I have always toyed with the idea of changing my hair colour but with the natural shade of my hair being very dark there hasn’t really been an easy way of doing it. Until recently, it pretty much meant needing to bleach my hair to achieve a significantly noticeable change. A few months ago, there was a slight hype over certain brands coming out with hair chalks with you had to rub against you hair – a process I watched, tried and found to be extremely messy. I knew instantly it was not for me and lost interest. Then recently I received an invitation from Bumble and bumble, to visit The Powder Room to see some of its new products involving hair powder. I had a free evening so I thought there was no harm in going down to have a look, and I am really glad I did.
One of the products I came across was the Bumble and bumble hair powder. It is powder in a spray can which adds nice tint of colour to your hair. I wanted to try something a little discreet so tried a lighter shade of brown hair powder to see whether it really could lighten the colour of my hair. My stylist asked me to sit down and demonstrated how it works. Quite impressively, with a few, short bursts I did notice my hair taking up a lighter shade of brown! Another product she used on my hair was the Prêt-à-powder which works as a dry shampoo and volumises too. It mattifies your hair which is exactly how I like it. Some people love a shine – personally I hate my hair looking shiny! You use this on dry hair – not on damp and certainly not on wet hair. Just shake gently at the roots, on the top of your hair and then gently ruffle your hair to reveal volumised hair! Prêt-à-powder combines an ultra-fine blend of clay and oats flour to provide invisible dry cleansing and is said to extend the life of the blow dry styles too.
Prêt-à-powder retails for £21.50 (2.0oz) and the hair powder sells for £16 (28g). Stockists include: Bb. Network Salons, Space NK, John Lewis, Selfridges, Liberty and selected Boots stores.
