There is a brand new menswear label out in the world of fashion, and last night I made my way down to the exclusive private member’s club, Home House for the launch. CHESS LONDON is a clothing brand focused on producing premium quality, classic clothing for the style-conscious modern city boy. Using their words, a CHESS LONDON man is gentleman who “looks for quality and depth in everything he pursues rather than passing fads and trends”.
Over at the venue, I enjoyed looking at many products they had on display for me to view, and enjoyed a good lengthy chat with the brand’s designer Ali Riaz. From what I understand, he worked on the current collection for 18 months using high quality fabrics which are mainly are sourced from Italy. Much of the manufacturing is done in the United Kingdom which is always good – not just to support this country but to keep a tight leash on quality control. Perhaps I am bias but I also feel that British tailoring is the best in the world. The current collection includes blazers, shirts, cardigans, jumpers, t-shirts, trousers, waistcoats and tops. No accessories are on offer at present but these are due at a later date. Ali tells me the launch has already proved to be a great success as many pieces are already sold out via their online shop, so it is all looking like a promising start. I certainly am impressed by the high standard of tailoring, stitching and attention to detail – which I always absolutely look for when buying my clothes. Adding to their success, they have managed to secure some key ambassadors including Beijing Olympic Gold medallist Mark Hunter and Luol Deng (Basketball player for the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and Great Britain basketball team).
