Practicing my portrait photography on random people…

For some considerable amount of time now I have been meaning to practice taking portrait photos with my camera because I want to get into street style photography and post some photos of random people wearing interesting outfits. Last Friday, I vowed to approach random strangers and ask if I could take photos of them. It was the perfect opportunity, particularly as I was due to attend a social event in the form of an art party. My type of crowd. The only trouble was that I don’t really like going up to strangers unless I really need something. Fortunately I get approached a lot so this helps.

At the art event, during a browse, a lovely woman came up to me asking if I was having a good time. This got the ball rolling. We chatted about numerous topics and at one point she brushed her finger up and down my blazer jacket. This made me feel slightly uneasy but seeing how she felt comfortable made me realise it was the perfect opportunity to ask if I could take some portraits shots of her. So I made a mention about being into photography, and that I am practicing portrait shots. I asked if I could take photos of her and she happily accepted. Out came my camera from my bag and to my complete surprise she made some flirtatious poses. Haha, I have no idea why she made them as I left the poses entirely up to her and made no specific requests. It made me nervous. Had a really good time though! She was wonderful. I will be posting some more portrait photos over the next few days. Let me know what you think! These are not fashion photos but just practice.
