Yesterday marked the UK launch of Vera Wang’s new fragrance, Lovestruck at Harrods in Knightbridge. Joining her was actress Leighton Meester (aka Gossip Girl’s queen Blair) as the face of the perfume, to meet up with fans and sign autographs. I was told by a Harrods staff member that dedicated fans had been queuing up since 10am.
Inside the perfumery section, there was a long pink carpet inside going all around the room where customers were rewarded by being placed near the front of the queue if they bought the fragrance and wore red or pink clothes. So many people did turn up in pink/red – I did not feel brave enough to dare try pink but I did wear red! The place was buzzing, with smiles to be seen everywhere as we keenly waited to see the stars in the flesh. Both women looked radiant when they finally came along. Glowing with pride – it was quite clear they were excited to be there and see us. I must say Vera looks decades younger than her age – she is to turn 62 later this year. I will not deny it – I was in awe. I love what she wore. Leighton was really wonderful with the fans. Sometimes a celebrity can come across quite artificial when meeting with fans but Leighton was quite attentive, greeting each person with a genuine smile and looking excited to meet everyone. That is how it should be.
I am pleased to say that the fragrance itself is not just any fragrance but actually smells quite divine, and believe me I am very picky! Here are the photos I took myself.
When we were waiting:
Plenty of fans turned up in pink:
A queue of fans:
The moment when Vera and Leighton were making their way down, towards the pink carpet:
And then they arrived! As you can see in the photo, Leighton looked mighty surprised by the reception she got. I do not think she was expecting to see a long pink carpet with a huge line of fans standing along the sides, clapping as she and Vera came along.
When they walked right past me:
The buzz all around the area was highly enjoyable.
Ms Wang looked incredibly good. Wonderful style!
One of the ladies, who was working there on the day and was really good to me. :] She posed for my photo and then I showed it to her. She was surprised and quite delighted.
I hope you all enjoyed the photos!
Here is a video interview made by Harrods:
Finally, the official video commercial:
