Yesterday evening at the H&M store on Oxford Street, I went along with the lovely Katie Wright and Helen Coakley (they both blog at styleandthensome.com) to a private networking event where the fashion insiders from ELLE magazine and H&M gave talks to those of us looking to progress further in our career working in the fashion industry. There were personal stories about how they managed to get to where they are today and lots of tips were handed out to help us along our way. I was fortunate to meet some of them and found it very interesting learning about their personal experiences, particularly when every single individual’s personal journey is a unique one. There are two extremely important lessons. Firstly, you should look to work in several areas of the industry, so that you gain experience and have a good range of transferable skills. Secondly, learn how to network effectively.

I took some photos to share with my blog readers. Anna Ogundehin, ELLE’s Acting Executive Fashion Editor, was the first to address the crowd.
To my complete surprise, two friends Zozo and Lily came over later – we have been bumping into each other a lot recently! :]
Thank you ELLE magazine and H&M for the wonderful evening!

Jai’me, why is it that your face always seems to be out of focus in the photos? It’s kind of ghostly!!! Great photography otherwise!!!!
