This was one of my favourite collections from London Fashion Week. It was great to be back at the old Eurostar terminal right by Waterloo station. It makes me a little sad to see such a building with such a beautiful architectural design almost being abandoned, so I was pleased when I learnt it would be used as a venue for David Koma’s show. Walking up the steps to the platforms which were once filled with bodies of travellers felt surreal but very pleasant. It was like going back in time.
David was born in Georgia and then spent much of his earlier days in Saint-Petersburg. He studied both his BA and MA at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. His draws inspiration from London’s The Tate Modern art gallery.
Inspired by geometric and Aztec patterns, David’s spring and summer 2012 collection refreshened my visual senses using splashes of tropical colours, which I feel is quite fitting for the spring and summer seasons. The outfits for me symbolises the essence of a strong, confident woman. Quite magnificent, I am sure you will agree.
