Available to buy in-store and online at TOPMAN is James Long’s exclusion collection made just for TOPMAN. The designer is British born, with an MA in menswear and accessories from the Royal College of Art. He worked for Virginia Bates in New York and London before launching his very own label.
The James Long for TOPMAN collection has seven pieces that uses premium quality materials that are synonymous with James Long’s signature knitwear. There are six jumpers and one cardigan available to buy, and all of them are made in Britain using British yarns. This collection was inspired by the members of Sex Pistols, The Bay City Rollers, Bobby Gillespie and Keith Richard.
I was invited to attend the James Long for TOPMAN private launch party – an offer I would never resist. Upon entry, guests were asked to pose for the camera at the launch booth. It provided plenty of chuckles.
It took place at the amazing Winter Forest Bar created by Rekorderlig, on Brick Lane in East London. Meeting James in person was really wonderful. He treated me so well and kept me company all through the evening. His close friends were all great to mingle with. I felt right at home as we all talked and dance to celebrate this very special collaboration.

It was pretty amazing to bump into Holly Fulton too – she was so lovely and made me laugh. I went down to see her show during London Fashion Week back in September, and as a big fan, it was such a good moment to spend some time with her. Just as I left the building to head home when it was late and I needed to catch the last train home, James came outside, called me and then handed me a gift which was really kind, and it was something that would remind me of what a lovely party it was. There were some funny moments that James Long, Holly Fulton and I shared which involved some photos.

Two of my favourite pieces include the multi-colour tartans and over-sized polka dots. Being a huge fan of the over-sized trend, I am excited about this collection and need to buy some of the jumpers! Even though it’s sold through TOPMAN, the range entire would suit women and I believe it’s marketed as unisex. All the jumpers cost £100 to buy and the cardigan is priced at £120.
