Last Saturday I went down to the BAFTA Style Suites at The Savoy with Hackett who are the official Menswear Stylist to the EE British Academy Film Awards. It was one day before the BAFTA Awards took place. The Style Suite is where some of the BAFTA nominees go to before the awards to get their makeover done. They get to have their hair and make-up done, and are provided with luxury clothes and shoes to wear at the ceremony. I was invited to try out the experience for myself – an offer I obviously would never dream of resisting. I was greeted very warmly by the BAFTA and Hackett teams and then Alex, the Head Barber for Murdock, who then treated me to a truly enjoyable facial massage, with skin care treatments. Later, he washed my hair and styled it all up a little differently for me.
I drank some champagne and was shown the list of BAFTA nominees who were scheduled to attend the very same Style Suite and go through the same experience I did the very next day. The clothes and accessories were provided by Hackett. I felt like a million dollars which is precisely how you want to be feeling before stepping out on that very special red carpet.
