Two weeks ago I was invited by Harrods to attend a breakfast event where they showed me what they have in store for the Diamond Jubilee. It was simply quite stunning but not surprising to see they were embracing it on such a large scale – with a large range of products to commemorate Her Majesty’s 60 years of reign: cakes, lollipops, hampers, perfume, clothes, jewellery and much more. Another major highlight is the ballgowns and crowns which you can see at the front of the building, through the giant window displays. Harrods is collaborating with the world’s finest fashion brands to showcase a range of some truly spectacular ballgowns and crowns featuring Erdem, Ralph & Russo, Carolina Herrera, Roberto Cavalli, Valentino, Nina Ricci, Jenny Packham and Elie Saab.
I had such a wonderful time at the event and was allocated permission to walk around inside Harrods’ world famous window displays. It was such a great feeling to be roaming around, looking outside from inside the store. I got some waves from some tourists passing through on the street which was really lovely! Outside, the entire building looks quite stunning – with a couple of standing platforms installed and the Union flag flying all over. A beautiful sight. I am terribly excited about the Jubilee weekend!
After the event at the department store was over, I was taken to the V&A museum via Harrods’ famous green double decker bus, with the Harrods team to attend the Ballgowns: British Glamour since 1950 exhibition. The experience was sensational and I am very grateful to them for the VIP treatment.
The ballgowns and crowns will be on display at Harrods until 15th June 2012.
