Where does time go? How does it pass so quickly? It is all a mystery to me. How is Mr Porter five years old already, and at the same time I wonder how it is that Mr Porter is only five years old? It is still a baby, and yet it has achieved and grown so much in that short time. It’s only right that a very special bash was thrown to celebrate the occasion at the Savile Club, where impeccably dressed waiters wore bowler hats (of course) to serve the Champagne, burgers and caviar to the guests. It was an honour to have my name on the guestlist which included Lily Donaldson, Alicia Vikander, Will Poulter, Lucky Blue Smith, Jeremy Irvine and Graham Norton.
Outside the venue, there was a specially illuminated installation showcasing the new electric powered BMW i3 which is made using 95% recyclable materials. It highlights a promising new partnership between Mr Porter and BMW as the car is designed exclusively for the global online men’s style retailer. It is influenced by the men’s tuxedo. The BMW i3 is finished in deep midnight blue and includes hand-drawn “pinstripe” on the side of the chassis. Mr Porter X BMW i3 is available to buy now. Price: £39,000.
Cigars were served. No, I am not joking. There was a cigar bar! I was asked to give it a try and politely declined to avoid embarrassment, as I have never smoked before and know I probably would have coughed so much. There have been many good parties this year but this one was so extraordinarily good, it is easily the best one of the year so far.
It was wonderful fun to see some familiar faces for a catch-up, and some new ones. One can never have too many friends – as they say, the more friends you have, the richer your life is. Pictured above in the photo gallery are some of many people I met on the night. We danced, we drank, we sang and celebrated until it was well past midnight. Happy, happy birthday Mr Porter. You have enriched my life and enhanced my wardrobe. I celebrate you.
