Fyodor Podgorny and Golan Frydman presented their autumn and winter 2013 (AW13) womenswear collection at The Savoy a few weeks ago and I went down to see them, and their entire team at work a short while before the catwalk show took place on the opening day of London Fashion Week. The designers have raised their game and matured with confidence since winning Fashion Fringe back in 2011.
Fyodor and Golan have both studied fine arts, and it really does show. This collection is inspired by Luis Bunuel’s 1967 film Belle De Jour. “It was the story of a girl becoming a woman, following her natural instincts”. The designers wanted to explore a more sinister and sexually raw side to their concept. They wanted to show the subtle contrasts, expressing secret instincts which are suddenly laid bare.
Michelle Webb from AOFM Pro looked to create a look of an innocent women combined with the elegance of a mature woman.
