We live in a world full of chaos and information overload. Since early last month Selfridges has actively encouraged its shoppers to seek out moments of peace and tranquillity. The No Noise project has seen the re-opening of the Silence Room which was originally created by department store’s founder Harry Gordon in 1909. The room is designed to provide an oasis of quiet for anyone wishing to drop in and have a sit or a lie down. It is free and no appointment is required. Visitors are asked to leave shoes and 21st century distractions, such as mobile phones at the door.
The store has removed its name from the world famous shopping bags until the end of March, leaving them entirely blank in yellow pantone 109, and other brands like Creme de La Mer skincare, Beats by Dre, Levi’s jeans and Marmite have removed logos from their own products.
The headphones in the photos above are de-branded Beats by Dre. They are available in limited numbers and only from Selfridges. I had always worn those tiny earphones everyone has, and felt pangs of envy towards people on the street with their large size fashionable headphones, up until recently. Being someone who deliberately likes to keep visible branding to a minimum, these de-branded pair could not be more ideal.

Awww Lauren has a Toronto Blue Jays hat. Went to see them in the Summer, was lots of fun.

Yes! I went to see them too when I visited Toronto. Isn’t it so much fun, and dirt cheap? Me and my then girlfriend only paid $8 each for our seats and sat near the top. I am not a baseball fan but it was very enjoyable. Massively jealous of Canadians. Wish our sporting events were cheap!
