In case you are not aware, the iPhone 4 will use a special sim card called the “micro sim” which is different to your standard sim card. It is much tinier in size and you will need it if you buy the new model of the iPhone. There is a lot of confusion whether Apple will be giving them out to customers who have reserved their sim-free version of the iPhone 4 at the store for the launch day (24th June 2010). Just to be on the safe side, existing o2 customers can now pick up a micro sim from any o2 store and swap their old standard sim card for it.
All you need to do is take a print-out of the confirmation e-mail from Apple showing that you have reserved the iPhone at the store and take it to your local o2 shop and ask for the micro sim. They will give you the micro sim pack and it should look like the one shown in the image below. Make sure it states “Pay Monthly and Business” on the front as well as “Your new micro sim”.
