Brown spots on my face

For some reason, every spring and summer I get these brown spots over my face and then always disappear when the autumn and winter season returns. I do tend to feel a little self-conscious about them. I am wearing nothing but moisturiser here. Yes I am actually wearing a moisturiser. Shocking I realise, when taking into account that I have perhaps only worn it 30 times at the most in the past few years. I keep getting told I must put it on a daily basis by friends, bloggers, dermatologists and pretty much anyone who specialises in skincare. It is only recently I have began including the cream in my daily routine. Sun protection cream is another issue I have been careless about. Luckily the moisturiser has SPF in it. On the plus side, I have never smoked in my life and avoid direct sunlight.

I cannot wait for these brown spots to disappear…

  • I personally love little marks like these – they add character! I will never understand people who hate their freckles, I really wish I got them but my pale Irish-heritage skin just doesn’t want me to have them!

I have a little chicken pox scar on my cheek . Most people wouldn’t even notice it but I like it because it tells a little story about my life – and how I didn’t listen when my Mum told me not to scratch :)

I think they’re great! If they are sun damage, though, Clinique has something called a turnaround concentrate (I believe?) that is super great for reversing the damage!

Yup, these little gems are caused by sun exposure. The best way to lighten and and keep new ones from developing is to buy (available online) OBAGI’s SUNFADER product. It’s a combination of SPF15 and Hydroquonine 4%. It’s sold in dermatologists office but can be purchased online. Any other lightener you by over the counter, no matter who makes it, is only 2% Hydroquinine. I live in a tropical environment and use Sunfader daily. I also bought OBAGI’s CLEAR and dab that on the spots before bed. Using these products religiously will take care of the spots by lightening them considerably and keeping new ones from forming. I’ve used OBAGI for years and have found it to be the best solution for these unavoidable summertime spots.

True!  I am a hypocrite though – always telling others to keep their freckles because I love them – just not on myself.

Hello Lela!  Luckily it’s not sun damage.  It’s just a build up of melanin really.  :]

Thank you, Shelley!  I don’t think we have OBAGI here but there is a similar product with 4% Hydroquinone – I may give that a try.  It’s meant for freckles which is what I have.  Hopefully it will help!
